At the start of 2026 we got the opportunity to work on this awesome Changan South Africa advert, showcasing a few of their new vehicles, in an abstract fantasy world. I guided our compositing team in achieving the final look of the commercial, as well as comping a few shots. Initially we delivered a 30" spot, and later extended it to a 60".

We generated the visuals for Qatar Airways’ FIFA 2026 spot, building the 3d environments and shots for the establishing and closing shots, stadium set extentions, and comped. I supervised our comp team on technical challenges, built the workflows for projecting matte paintings onto geo and worked with the 3d team to create the elements needed for getting through these comp heavy shots in a very short time. I also got to comp 2 shots!

We had the privilege of working on Visit Qatar’s international tourism campaign in 2025, which features an inspiring lineup of global icons including Hande Erçel, Sir David Beckham, Sir Mo Farah, Ons Jabeur, Anirudh Ravichander and Chef Nobu.

Besides managing the pipeline, colour and data, I supervised the comp team’s technical work, supported them in any difficult tracks, plates or cleanups, and comped a shot or two. I also liaised with editorial throughout the project, from previs to final delivery of the spot.

the first piece of 3d software i used was the cover-disk supplied version 4.0 of Imagine for DOS. in college i got into photoshop and after effects and 3d studio max, then on to the greener pastures of alias maya 4.0.

joining the 3d team at bugbox in 2004, i leaned into the technical things more, and because i am lazy, started learning how to code enough to get myself in trouble. there we did the wonderful adventures of toby animated short films, a bunch of commercials, and a music video or two. my roles were lookdev and lighting, shader writer, effects, saying smart sounding things (like coefficient of restitution), comp artist and being the weird goth kid in the dark corner touting linux. to my great dismay, i also got introduced to houdini around this time…
